SEOlympics: Top Marketing Blogs of South Africa by @albertcostill

What makes South Africa so interesting is that some 52 million people call it home. What makes it difficult is that there are 11 different languages, and there’s a history of division between the diverse population. Masingita Mazibuko, a director of marketing for skincare brand Pond’s, stated that “the trick is to know your customers.” With over 91% of B2B companies engaged in content marketing in the United States, it’s clear that brands have been trying to know their customers by creating content that is appealing to that specific audience. While some would argue that South Africa is behind in […]

This Month in #ContentMarketing: December by @dantosz

3 Reasons to Use Pinterest in 2015 by @jeanmariedion

Let’s face it: Few of us have the time or the inclination to use every single social media tool available to us. As a result, most of us pick a few sites that seem to have the most traffic, and we spend most of our time and energy trying to work with those sites to the best of our ability. From a straight metrics standpoint, it makes sense to choose Facebook over Pinterest. After all, 2014 stats from Digital Insights suggest that Facebook’s 1.28 billion monthly active users totally overpower Pinterest’s “measly” 40 million. If you’re looking for sheer numbers, Pinterest seems […]

Here is some of the most common community manager fails, how they could have been avoided, and what you can learn from them: Getting Personally Invested The Internet is a rough placed filled with […]

10 Ways to Beat The Panda and Penguin In Your Content Strategy by @JuliaEMcCoy

Change might not always be fun, but sometimes it is necessary to get ahead in the game of Google. Over the last several months, Google has rolled out two fresh updates to shake up the bad content and spammy link world once again: Panda and Penguin. At this point, Panda and Penguin updates should almost be expected. Although the two updates did not rock our world quite as bad as we anticipated, there is almost always someone who suffers when an update strikes. Panda and Penguin are notorious for rolling out harsh penalties, and it is best practice to stay […]

Start with Why: Inspiring Ourselves and Those Around Us by @thebigdebowski

For December’s #SEJBookClub, we read Start with Why by Simon Sinek. The book’s tagline is “How great leaders inspire everyone to take action.” Inspiration is a common thread throughout the book and serves as a bottom line for starting with “why”. I was first introduced to Simon via his TED Talk focusing on the importance of knowing why we do what we do. Sinek asserts that knowing why we do what we do is how we inspire ourselves and others. How do you explain it when things don’t go the way you may assume? Or when people seem to defy […]
