TechCruch reports that Google has acquired Gecko Design, the firm responsible for the mechanical design of the original version of the fitness tracking device Fitbit. Gecko Design was founded in 1996 and is headquartered in Los Gatos, California. Google reportedly acquired them to help with its Google X special projects laboratory.
